FRESH TAKE ON TAKE-OUT
(June 9, 2003) Native Sun Natural Foods Market recently unveiled
"Native Sun To Go" - a new deli department offering
fresh, natural and organic selections including wraps,
sandwiches, soups, salads, entrees and desserts. Menu
selections are available in single servings for customers
grabbing a quick lunch or by the pound for those picking
up dinner for the family on their way home.
Asian green bean salad, barbeque tofu
patties, blackened tofu wraps, Cajun chicken and salmon
wraps, harvest apple-spelt berry salad and peanut butter
pie are just a few of the more than 45 items prepared
fresh daily.
"The response to this new department
has been tremendous," said Aaron Gottlieb, owner of
Native Sun. "Customers are thrilled with the quality
of the food as well as the variety," he added.
While customers can always expect popular
staples like blackened salmon and chicken salad to be
offered, the majority of the menu changes daily from
a growing list of more than 200 items. "Already, we
have identified some customer favorites that we offer
everyday. We are preparing more and more of these dishes
just to keep up with customer demand," Gottlieb said.
Native Sun admits not all items are low
in calories, but customers can appreciate that each
item is made with natural and organic ingredients. "All
selections are made fresh by Native Sun; that means
no preservatives or pesticides and no artificial hormones
or colors," said Chef Dean Maillet.
Maillet says he enjoys educating others
on the usefulness of a healthy diet. He has been cooking
for 24 years and has a wide range of career experiences
from 30-seat cafes to a resort and his own restaurant.
He feels the key to good food is to keep it exciting
and fresh and he always incorporates this into his eclectic
style of food preparation.
Native Sun Natural Foods Market is a 10,000-square-foot
organic super market offering a variety of all-natural
foods including organic produce, packaged food, ready-to-eat
items, poultry and fish as well as health and beauty
products, baby products, pet food and supplies, vitamins
and herbs. The store is located at 10000 San Jose Blvd.
