4th of July: Healthy and Homemade Apps and Snacks!

Whether you’re hosting or attending a 4th of July party next week, we want to make sure you’ve got plenty of bites to keep the party going from start to fireworks! See what we recommend munching on this 4th of July in our recipe round-up below!

Deviled Eggs

Deviled eggs are a quintessential summer appetizer, so of course we had to include them in our recipe round up for the 4th. The version we’re loving lately includes standard deviled egg ingredients like mustard, mayo and relish, and bursts of flavor and spice from bacon, parsley and paprika.

We love nachos as an appetizer for so many reasons! Nachos are crunchy, creamy, full of veggies, and when you make them with vegan ingredients, safe for just about anyone to eat! The first part of this vegan nacho recipe? The vegan queso, which is eggplant-based. After that, it’s all about building the nachos to your liking!

Spinach Dip

Getting greens into a party appetizer is hard, but this spinach dip does it. Plus, it’s vegan and dairy-free thanks to the ingredients from Kite Hill! Serve it with veggies and gluten-free crackers like Mary’s Gone Crackers.

Cocktail Meatballs

For the meat eaters at the party, we love these cocktail meatballs. The recipe comes with a deliciously sweet glaze, so we say pair them with some salty bites like olives or party mix. (Which we have a recipe for below!)

BBQ Beer Brats

It wouldn’t be a party without a hearty option like these Vegan BBQ Skewers! They’re made with Tofurky, zucchini and onions, so you get a good serving of protein and veggies.

Cozy Pigs

These pigs in a blanket are a hearty appetizer option for those eating meat! Traditionally they’re made with cocktail hot dogs, which you could totally do, but we’re going to suggest something a little different. Grab Applegate Farms Chicken & Apple Sausage or Organic Beef Hot Dogs while they’re on BOGO and cut them down to size!

Fruit Pizza Cookies

Homemade sugar cookies are a good idea for The 4th of July. This recipe has you decorate each cookie with fruit! We say bring a batch of these cookies to the party plain, and serve them next to bowls of chopped fruit so people can decorate!

Vegan French Onion Dip

There’s something about french onion dip that keeps us going back to the appetizer table, but the classic recipe is a little too heavy on the dairy. So, we found a recipe that swaps out ingredients like sour cream and cream cheese with soaked cashews and silken tofu. The result? A delicious, dairy-free dip that everyone can enjoy!

Tiny Tuna Melts

Pescatarian in the house? Make these teeny, tiny, adorable Tuna Melts! The recipe calls for a few ingredients that you might even already have, and if you don’t, good news, tuna and cheese are on sale!

Veggies with Homemade Salad Dressing

It should be no surprise to you that we’ve included a salad dressing recipe in this list. Every party needs a good homemade dressing to serve with veggies, greens or whatever! We love this vinaigrette because it’s tangy, sweet and salty (the best combo) and vegan!

Spicy Curry Snack Mix

Long live the snack mix! This version brings a little heat to the party thanks to curry, cumin, and cayenne.

Patriotic Fruit Kabobs

These red, white, and blue fruit kabobs are must-haves for the 4th! You can make them all ahead of time, or have friends put them together on the spot! Plus, organic watermelon, raspberries, grapes, cherries, blueberries and strawberries are all on sale thru July 4th, so you’ll enjoy super savings on the haul!

All prices valid thru 7/14/19.
