4th of July Grilling Guide

July means fireworks, friends and, you guessed it, grilling! So, whether you're planning a cookout or keeping it low-key, we've got ideas for you to eat well while you celebrate.

  1. Dakota Organic Grass-Fed Ground Beef
Let's start with the main event, meat! Grass-fed beef is naturally leaner because the cows live off a strict diet of grass from the fields where they graze, versus eating manufactured grain feed or food waste like chips! (More on cows eating chips in the Food for Thought link at the bottom of this blurb!) Dakota Organic Beef is a great go-to for burgers because of the balanced ratio of fat content. (Works great in tacos and meatballs too!) If it sounds like we’re obsessed with grass-fed beef, it's because we are! So obsessed in fact, that we focused an entire episode of Food for Thought on it this week. Watch the episode here
  2. Beeler's Baby Back Ribs
Beeler's simple and humane farming practices are the exact type of methods we support at Native Sun. Beeler’s all-natural baby back ribs are just $5.99/lb. this week because we think they’re the perfect grilling essential for 4th of July and just to make sure, we tested them out this week. Check out the recipe here
  3. Dr. Praeger's Veggie Burger
Vegetarians don't have to worry about being excluded from the burger party; Dr. Praeger's plant-based burger is a perfect go-to! We suggest serving these with shaved or thinly sliced veggies that’ll enhance the flavor. Think onions, carrots, radishes or cabbage, and when it comes to buns, Canyon Bakehouse Buns (also on this list!) or grilled sweet potatoes will do the trick. If you're not sure if you'd like a grilled sweet potato bun, take a look at this picture and you might just change your mind!
  4. Woodstock Organic Pickles
Woodstock’s Organic Pickles are traditional New York City style pickles, and with plenty of variety to choose from, you can have your kosher dill and your bread and butter. We like to keep Baby Dill Pickles on deck for parties because they work great with cheese, vegetable chips and sliced apples as party starters.
  5. Wildbrine Sriracha Sauces
At Native Sun, Wildbrine Sriracha is something we like to add to just about everything. These delicious sriracha sauces are packed with fresh peppers, garlic, tomatillos, and probiotics, so they're good for your gut!
  6. Repurpose Table Wear
Who wants to wash dishes on July 4th? Repurpose is pretty perfect for big 4th of July parties. Their products are BPA-free and 100% compostable, so don’t have to worry about tracking down every can, bottle and piece of plastic to go into the recycling bin. Grab big plates for dinner, small bowls for dessert, and cups for water.
  7. Organic Fruit
Toss peaches on the grill with a little olive oil and brown sugar as a side item, or serve a selection of fresh strawberries, blueberries and raspberries with TruWhip and mint for dessert. You could also make these Vanilla Almond Milk Chia Seed Popsicles or maybe these Raspberry Lemon Parfaits.
  8. Canyon Bakehouse Gluten-free Hot Dog and Hamburger Buns
Inviting gluten-free guests to your cookout? Canyon Bakehouse buns are a must! They're made with whole ingredients like brown rice flour, eggs and extra virgin olive oil. They're flavorful and less crumbly than other options we've tried, so your gluten-free guests can enjoy a bun that stands up to even the messiest of toppings.
  9. Arteasan Ready-to-Drink Tea
Not sure what to throw into the cooler? Our Weekly Sales Flyer has you covered! Arteasan Tea (and Veterans United 6-packs!) are on sale. Offering options beyond water (and alcohol) is always a good call.
  10. Masala Pop Corn
Grilling takes a bit, so having snacks on hand will keep hunger in check while you wait on the food! Masala Pop CornArtisan Tropic plantain & cassava strips and Terra Chips gluten-free Vegetable Chips are all on sale, so you can have chips on chips for every taste.
